WHO IS A STRANGER

Young children think a stranger is ugly, mean, and very scary.

However, they should be taught that a stranger can have many appearances.

A stranger is someone they do not know. A stranger may be a man, woman, teenager.

They may look scruffy, or clean cut.

They may appear to be lost, sad, or happy.

We never know who the stranger is, but we must always be prepared.

Teach your child to trust their instincts!

What to do if approached by a stranger.

Run away to the nearest friend or neighbor.

Go to the nearest salesperson if you are in a store.

Always tell your parents.

Scream as loud as you can:

"Help he's/she's a stranger!"

 "You are not my Mommy!"

"You are not my Daddy!"

Kick, bite, punch and try to run away.

Grab hold of anything that is close like a street sign, fence, or bike.

Wrap your feet and arms around it and scream as loud as you can.

This will make it very difficult for the stranger to take you.

This will draw attention to them and people will want to know what is going on!

Usually the stranger will go away if there is too much attention.
